Regular contractions

Contractions cause the cervix to dilate. Initially, these contractions are irregular and not very strong. As the dilation process progresses, the contractions will become more frequent and regular, stronger, and last longer.

Many women find it helpful to experience contractions in the bath or under a warm shower at this stage. Don't be alarmed if the contractions don't continue after a while, but instead weaken or stop altogether.

This is annoying, but normal. The contractions will then start again later. If the contractions are regular for an hour (every 3-4 minutes), strong, and last about a minute, you can call us. You should call us if the contractions are every 2-3 minutes.

If you've already given birth, call if your contractions are every 5 minutes. The final stages of a second labor can be particularly rapid.

Blood loss

A few drops or streaks of blood during dilation are normal and not dangerous. However, if you experience a lot of bright red bleeding that continues to seep, please call us immediately on our mobile number.

Towards the end of pregnancy, your body is preparing for labor, so you may experience some bloody discharge. This is normal.

Breaking of the membranes

If the amniotic fluid is green/brown or the baby's head hasn't descended (lie down), call us immediately. If the amniotic fluid is clear and the baby's head has descended, call us during the day.

Worried

If you are worried about something or there is something you don't trust, no matter what it is, call us on the mobile number.
