Where to have your baby

If there is no medical reason to have your baby in the hospital, then you can choose to have your baby at home or in the hospital. This personal choice is yours entirely to make. It can be a very positive experience to have your baby at home, in your own personal space where you can relax well. One of the midwives from the practice and a kraamverzorgster (maternity carer) will assist you during the birth.

If you choose to have your baby in the hospital with us or there is a medical reason to have your baby in the hospital – this process is a simple transfer due to the short distance to the local hospital and our close working relationship with the Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis.

If you would like to gain some insight into having your baby in the hospital, there is an information afternoon every 2 weeks on a Friday afternoon. You will need to register for the session via the website. Click here for more information.

You have plenty of time to think about where you want to have your baby, we will discuss your wishes for the birth with you at around 34 weeks of pregnancy. The most important thing is that you have your baby where you feel most comfortable.

Even if you change your mind during the birth, it’s not a problem.
